I've been so excited about crochet these past two weeks.
On Monday, May 27, I went to a meeting of a knitting and crochet group out of St. Matthew's Catholic Church. I learned about it from M.J. at Peace. We were at a meeting of the Peace "Quilting" group last month and I asked around about a crochet group. So M.J. told me about this meeting they were having at Panera's, so I went to it. About 10 women showed up. The learder/organizer, Glenda, showed up with bags and bags of yarn and every one grabbed some yarn and began crocheting or knitting. I picked up a skein of Bernat worsted weight yarn in bright colors and white. I started a lapghan in a pattern from my Vanna White book. It is a riged ripple. I got a good start on it and put some of my own stash with it in a couple of the ombre colors--yellow, lavendar and white. It was so fun! and I looked forward to meeting with them again.
Turns out they meet every Monday evening, once a month at Panera, and the other Mondays at Glenda's house off Cherry Bottom Road.
They were not meeting on Memorial Day Monday, but I went to Glenda's last Monday, June 3rd. Monday afternoon I found some Red Heart Spirit yarn I had in red and gray and started making the Red Heart Spirit Hat Pattern. I took the yarn I had, about 2 and a half skeins, with me to the meeting and finished that hat and started another one, which I finished just as the meeting ended. I left the two hats and the lapghan I started two weeks before and another bright colored child's throw I had made just for fun earlier this year (or was it last year?). Glenda had a big table full of donated yarn in the living room. And her dining room table was loaded with finished hats. The group has made and donated thousands of items to charities in central Ohio.
Tuesday I made another Spirit hat and a matching scarf.
